Legal awareness is the empowerment of individuals with respect to issues of law in the country. It helps to promote consciousness of legal culture and holistic participation in the creation and establishment of laws in a holistic manner. Emphasis of Legal Aid Forum Trust The term public legal education comprises activities aimed at developing public awareness and skills related to law and the justice system in a holistic manner. The term also refers to the fields of study and practice along with those activities and is a more professional and social movement that advocates greater social commitment to educate people about law.

It mainly undertakes various awareness activities to make people aware about their rights and the role, activities and functioning of legal services institutions. A variety of means are used to achieve this objective such as conducting seminars, lectures; distributing pamphlets; participation in Doordarshan programmes, telecasting of jingles, live phone-in programmes etc.; floating mobile multi-utility vans to spread awareness through public interaction; street plays; short documentaries; cultural programmes by school children on legal issues; Various competitions like painting, essay writing, debate and speech etc. on legal issues. Specific issues are taken up for legal literacy programmes which vary from place to place depending upon the needs of the locality and its people. Internship programmes are organised for law students to promote the role and significance of legal service activities. Legal aid clinics in law colleges Various legal literacy programmes are organised at school and college levels to further the attainment of the objectives of legal services.
