FSSAI Registration
What is FSSAI Registration?
FSSAI registration refers to the process by which food businesses in India obtain a license or registration from the *Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI)*. Here are the key points about FSSAI registration:
1. FoSCoS (Food Safety Compliance System):
FoSCoS is the national single window system for licensing and registration of food businesses in India. It provides various services, including application processing, annual returns, grievance redressal, and food safety information¹.
2. Types of Registration:
– *Essential Registration:* For food businesses with an annual turnover of up to *₹12 lakhs*. This category includes petty retailers, hawkers, itinerant vendors, temporary stall holders, and small or cottage-scale industries.
– *State License:* For food businesses with an annual turnover between *₹12 lakhs and ₹20 crores*.
– *Central License:* For food businesses with an annual turnover exceeding *₹20 crores* or those involved in import/export of food products.
3. 14-Digit Registration Number:
FSSAI registration provides a *14-digit registration number* that appears on all food packages. This number indicates details about the assembling state and the producer’s permit, enhancing accountability for maintaining food quality³.
4. FoSCoS Portal:
FoSCoS replaces the existing online Food Licensing and Registration System (FLRS). Food Business Operators (FBOs) in certain states/UTs must now visit the [FoSCoS portal](https://foscos.fssai.gov.in) for licensing and registration¹.
Remember that FSSAI registration ensures food safety compliance and helps maintain the quality of food products. If you have a food business, make sure to obtain the appropriate registration or license based on your turnover and business type.
